Mike started his baseball career locally at Dobson High School. Mike was a 3 year letterman and received 1st team All Central Region and 1st team All Easy Valley as well as Honorable Mention All State honors. Mike spent to next two years playing for Mesa Community College, where he played with  All star 3rd baseman Shea Hillenbrand. After completing two years at Mesa C.C. he accepted a scholarship to University of Missouri, St. Louis where he was the starting 2nd baseman on the 3rd ranked team in the country and a participant in the 1996 Division II College World Series. After completing his playing career Mike finished his degree in Education from ASU, while being an assistant coach at Mesa C.C. Mike responsibilities were outfielders, infielders and hitting as well as 1st base coach. Mike still works very closely with Mesa C.C. as a scout. Currently, Mike is finishing his 3rd season coaching at the Varsity High School level at Mt.View (Mesa). There he is responsible for off-season games. Mike's Mt.View team this summer was the Champions of the Grand Canyon State Games. Mike was also a former head instructor for 3 years for the Arizona Diamondbacks Training Centers.
